Overview
For a year now, the CCS team through the WE CARE program has continuously provided TECH skills training for those BEHIND BARS. But we realized, we overlooked the ones BEYOND the bars. Thus this proposal.
The digital landscape is rapidly evolving and computer literacy and digital skills have become essential for effective communication, efficient work processes, and overall professional development. It is the team's desire to empower Jail Officers and Personnel, and recognizing the role of MSU-IIT’s WE CARE community extension program’s initiative to bring this project to the local penitentiary unit, BJMP.
Personnel and Jail Officers are tasked to maintain order, ensuring the safety of PDLs, and managing various administrative duties. Many of these officers may not have had the opportunity to develop their computer literacy and digital skills, which are increasingly necessary in today’s technology driven world.
Providing computer literacy and digital training to the officers of a penitentiary unit is not just a matter of professional development; it is a crucial step towards enhancing the overall security and management of correctional facilities. By equipping these officers with the necessary skills, we can ensure that they are better prepared to handle the demands of their roles, from managing digital records and communication systems to utilizing technology for surveillance and security purposes.
